Using hypnotherapy, we relax the conscious mind and gain access to the powerful inner mind, the subconscious. This is the part of the mind that we cannot access readily but stores our emotions, feelings, and memories. In order to get new, beneficial ideas to be accepted by the subconscious, we must relax the conscious mind and communicate directly with the subconscious.
Hypnotherapy is a shared process which reduces anxiety, focuses the mind and brings perspective and clarity. Combining psychotherapy and hypnosis, you can make permanent changes in a relatively short period of time.
In this beneficial, relaxed state, we can more easily get positive ideas across to the most powerful parts of our minds. Unlike conventional counselling, this method concentrates on the future in a positive way, exploring how you envision your best future world, rather than dwelling on the problems which made you seek help.
Because thoughts trigger emotions and emotions create behaviour, rewiring your mind can build new healthy patterns, breaking the cycle of unhelpful thinking. Every time you feel, think or do something, you are creating a new neural pathway in the brain which then creates a new habit to replace an old unwanted habit.
You will train your brain to stop being afraid of feeling bad. Once you get in the habit of listening to your painful emotions instead of trying to problem-solve them or run away from them, your brain stops believing that they’re dangerous. As a result, that second layer of painful feeling—feeling bad about feeling bad—starts to go away.
Hypnotherapy can also help with pain and long-term illness, IBS, fibromyalgia, lack of confidence (adults & teens) weight management, sleep disturbance and smoking.
Therapist: Claire Wells
Hypnotherapy can help you learn about what you’re feeling, physically and mentally, why you might be feeling it, and how to cope or move forward. I have work with clients at a time of their lives that most people would describe as their most difficult or challenging and have assisted them to move forward and live their best lives. My focus is very much about giving you the tools you need to be able to function and helping to keep moving forward.
Clients can work with me online or face to face, should your location allow, or I am able to work with you via Zoom, Skype or Facetime. Online therapy is a great platform for working together, as it allows you to access the therapy you need, whilst in the comfort of your own surroundings.
